DHAKA: Ambassador M Shameem Ahsan, Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the UN Offices in Geneva presented his letters of credence to the Holy Father Pope Francis at Vatican City.
The Holy Father welcomed him and offered his personal good wishes for the Christmas and the New Year. He further extended his welcome and respect to the peoples of Bangladesh and to the President and the Prime Minister.
He also wished the Ambassador fruitful work in his tenure.
The Holy Father mentioned that the work of the Ambassador was a work with small steps and small things, but they always end up making peace, bringing together the hearts of the people and sowing the seeds of brotherhood. Thus their job was to achieve big results with small things- Holy Father added.
While handing over the Letter of Credence, Ambassador Ahsan conveyed warm greetings of the President, the Prime Minister and above all, of the peoples of Bangladesh and also on his own behalf and wished for good health, happiness and long life of the Holy Father and the continued peace and prosperity of the Holy See.
He also sought the blessings of the Holy Father for the peace, development and communal harmony in Bangladesh.
M Shameem mentioned the successes of Bangladesh in various sectors under the leadership of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
He reminded the Holy Father of the invitation of the Prime Minister to visit Bangladesh at his convenient time.
