What Lessons Nation Gets on Intellectual Martyrs Day?

This very day 14 December – Intellectual Martyrs day has great significance in the life of Bangladeshi nation. On this very day at least a thousand of celebrated Bangladeshi intellectuals –engineers, doctors, teachers, journalists, poets, writers, and singers were butchered by Pakistani Occupation force and their local collaborators Al Badar, Razakars at Rayer Bazar.

The golden personalities were made to breath their last only about 48 hours before the surrender of occupation force surrendered to allied force of Bangladesh and India at the then Ramna Race course culminating the glorious liberation war commenced through the clarion call of Bangabandhu on 7th March 1971.

The occupation force and their local cohorts wanted to cripple the new born nation depriving it of its glorious thinkers and dreamers. The nation since then was leaking the wounds for over four decades crying for justice for the killers and plotters.

In 2014, after 43 years Bangabandhu daughter Sheikh Hasina led patriotic Bangladesh Government defying various national and international conspiracies has initiated actions to bring all criminals against humanity under justice.

Some verdicts are already given, one verdict has been executed, and many other cases are at different stages of trial process. Nation while observing the day of remembrance paying deep respect to the immortal memories of deceased intellectuals demanded early disposal of all cases against killers and collaborators.

The sooner the criminals get their overdue punishment the nation can pay back a part of the overdue debt to the martyrs and step ahead for realizing their dreams an exploitation free functional democracy.

This writer a victim of conspiracy of anti-liberation forces and corrupt mafia syndicate gets horrified finding a section of opposing activists still involved in riding on ant liberation forces identified war criminals. How that section dares to rally against the present government having the war criminals and their beneficiaries sharing their podium? How can from the same rally balloons demanding release of condemned war criminals can be released? How can a controversial leader curse the democratically elected Prime Minister? There can be fair and transparent way of protests, constructive criticisms of any or many government activities.

But how can any responsible political leader curse her opponent in a public meeting? How can a so called party favoring liberation war spirit rally alongside the identified war criminals in the month of December our month of achieving victory against the occupation force. We have no language of condemning such impudent acts. It definitely does not go with the spirits of the liberation war.

After almost 10 years this writer is getting opportunity of joining this great day of remembrance. In 1971 this writer was still in the teenage and was among those who were involved in making insignificant contributions for the liberation war. So many bitter sweet memories are flashing back and making thoughts and feelings numbed. My deepest respect to all fellow warriors and comrades of 1971 .Let us all rally around the War Criminals trail process and work for establishment of the spirits of the liberation war.

The lessons that nation must take on the day (1111 intellectuals were butchered) is working for establishing an exploitation free democratic secular Bangladesh freeing Bangladesh of all criminals and corrupt syndicates. Let us all resist the criminals jointly and boycott them socially.
