DHAKA: Some 510 rare species of turtles were seized Monday morning at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport while being smuggled out of the country.

Assistant Commissioner of airport customs Ruhul Amin and assistant revenue officer Mahbub-e-Khuda confirmed it to banglanews.

They said the turtles were seized around 11:30am from two abandoned bags at Heavy Luggage Gate of the airport’s departure section.

None was detained in this connection.

“We are now counting the number of turtles.” they added.
