BARISAL: A female college student was killed as a bus knocked her down in Helipad intersection on Barisal-Patuakhali road under Bakerganj upazaila on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Sathee Akhter Samonta, 17, a student of Ratna Anim Women’s College and a daughter of Nuru Mir of Bharpasha village of the upazila.

Bakerganj Officer-In-Charge M Nurul Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Nurul said the girl was returning home from college by a rickshaw. A  Barisal-bound passenger bus hit rickshaw from behind in the intersection area, leaving her dead on the spot.

Police recovered the body and sent it to the Barisal Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
