5 ministers, 10 MPs asked to leave NAM building

DHAKA: The Parliamentary Committee asked five ministers and 10 members of parliament (MPs) to leave the NAM flat within January 15 next year.

The committee also recommended taking necessary steps to boost up the security system of the NAM building.

They made the recommendation in the Parliamentary Committee meeting at Parliament on Thursday presided over by committee chairman and also chief whip ASM Feroz.

Sources said some ministers, state ministers and deputy minister grabbed some flats situated in city’s Manik Mia Avenue and Nakhalpara area though they live in government quarters.

After the meeting Firoz told banglanews that they are not leaving the flats after they were given repeated reminder. But, they hoped that the grabbers will leave the flats with due time.

Committee sources said they recommended giving ID cards to the housemaids and drivers as per security concern.

They also suggested for intercom service and deployment of more police and Ansar personnel in the NAM buildings.

Committee members Tajul Islam Chowdhury, M Abdus Shahid, Noor-e-Alam Chowdhury, Shagufta Yasmin, Panchanan Biswas, Fazle Hossain Badsha and whip Mahbub Ara Begum were present in the meeting.
