‘Militants misinterpret Islam’

DHAKA: Islam means peace, not war. Militants are misinterpreting the religion to world community. Moreover, they are killing innocent people mercilessly in the name of Islam.

Acting High Commissioner of Pakistan Ahmed Hossain Dayo came up with the assertion in an exclusive interview to banglanews Friday night on the high commission premises in Dhaka after the condolence program on the Peshawar school massacre.

He criticized the recent deadliest terrorist attack at a Peshawar school that left 141 people dead most of them children.

The high commissioner told banglanews that the religion ‘Islam’ does not teach to fight against others rather it leads to the path of peace.

Terrorists, who kill innocent people in the name of Islam, are ignorant about the actual philosophy of the religion, he added.

He also thinks that killing a person without any guilt is same as killing the mankind.

The militants do not belong to any nation or religion. Their main identity is that they are terrorists, he added.

Hossain Dayo said that 60,000 people including civilians and armed forces of Pakistan were killed in last 40 years in fighting extremists.

The country has also faced a loss of some 100 millions of dollars in the terrorist attacks, he added.

Terming the attack on school children on December 16 as a national crisis, he hoped that Pakistan will get rid of this jeopardy.

The day is not far away when the country will earn victory over militancy, he added.

The envoy urged every Pakistanis to be strong and united to eliminate terrorism. He considered the crucial time as a turning point for his nation.

Hossain Dayo said that Pakistan Army is very skilled and the armed personnel are ready to sacrifice their lives for the sake of the country.

He also said that there is no place for terrorists in Pakistan. They will be strictly encountered in the country, he added.

However, a candlelight vigil and doa program was held on the high commission premises where people from all walks of life, members of the diplomatic corps, Pakistani community, officers and staff members of the Pakistan High Commission along with their families attended the event with great solemnity.

The Pakistani diplomat, in the program, showed his gratitude to Bangladesh and other countries who condemned on recent terrorist attack in Peshawar.
