DHAKA: Bangladesh Missions in abroad celebrated 43rd anniversary of the Victory Day on 16 December in a festive and befitting manner.
A press release, signed by the ministry’s External Publicity Wing director (media) Nripendra Chandra Debnath, said on Saturday.
Victory Day was celebrated at Bangladesh Embassies in Bangkok, Seoul, Mexico city, Cairo, Amman, Paris, Japan, Washington DC, Kathmandu, Berlin, Jakarta, Muscat, Manila, Thimphu, Lisbon, London, Vienna, Rabat, Colombo, Yangon, Manchester, Tripoli, Mumbai, Kunming, The Hague, Beijing, Hanoi, Istanbul, New Delhi, Dubai, Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York and Bangladesh Consulate in New York.
The day began with hoisting national flag atop in all Missions in morning. Discussions were held with the participation of Bangladeshi expatriates later of the day. The programs began with recitation from the Holy Qur’an followed by playing of national anthem.
All stood in solemn silence to pay homage to the departed souls of martyred freedom fighters. The Victory Day message form President, Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and State Minister were read out at the functions.
As a part of the programs, live discussions were held highlighting the significance of the Day. Participants paid rich tribute to Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and martyrs who had sacrificed themselves for the country’s victory.
Many of those missions organized film show, poster exhibitions, and cultural programs to entertain the audience. Traditional Bangladeshi foods were also served to the guests.
