CHITTAGONG: Six people were killed in a road accident in Pathaniapool area under Satkania upazila of the district on Saturday evening.

The deceased were identified as M Syed, 35, M Shoaib, 22, son of one Shamsul Islam, hailed from Anarpara village, Shahriar Suvo, 16, son of a late M Shafi, and Amulya Das, 55 from Ali Sikder para of Lohagara upazila, Jasim Uddin, 28, son of one Abul Kashem, hailed from Eidgah area of Cox’s Bazar Sadar and Shamsul Alam, 80, hailed from Dakkhin Chambal village under Banskhali upazila.

Officer-in-Charge of Satkania Thana M Khaled Hossain told banglanews that a Chittagong-bound passenger bus crushed into a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in the area around 5:50pm, leaving four passengers and the auto-rickshaw driver dead on the spot and one injured.

The injured was rushed to As-Shefa Hospital of Keranihat where on duty declared him dead.

Local people seized the bus but the driver of the bus managed to flee the scene, he added.
