HABIGANJ: A court here on Sunday sent Habiganj Municipality Mayor GK Gaus, also the general secretary of district BNP, to jail, after surrendering in the former finance minister Shah AMS Kibria killing case.

Sources told banglanews that Habiganj Senior Judicial Magistrate Rokeya Akter passed the order in the noon.

Earlier, Gaus surrendered before her court around 11:30am following an arrest warrant issued on December 21 against 11 people, including BNP leaders Harris Chowdhury, GK Gaus, and Sylhet City Corporation Mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury, among others.

On January 27, 2005, four people, including Kibria, were killed and scores injured in a grenade attack while addressing a rally in Habiganj.
