Mancha demands Azhar’s death penalty

DHAKA: Activists of Ganajagaran Mancha gathered in Shahbagh with the demand of capital punishment for Jamaat-e-Islami assistant secretary general ATM Azharul Islam for his alleged crimes against humanity in 1971.

The Mancha activists started to gather there in front of the National Museum from Tuesday morning.

A good number of activists, including the platform's spokesperson Imran H Sarkar, are chanting slogans demanding Azhar's death sentence there, sources added.

Imran H Sarkar, in this regard, said that ATM Azharul Islam, he is the criminal, who had committed genocide, rape, torture and massacre at Rangpur area in 1971 War of Independence.

“The man deserves capital punishment for his crimes,” the Ganajagaran Mancha spokesperson added. “We are here to demand his death sentence.”
