Language movement veteran Fazlul Karim dies

THAKURGAON: Language movement veteran Fazlul Karim, who also was elected as a lawmaker of Awami League government in 1970 and 1973, breathed his last due to old age complexities at his residence in district Sadar on Friday morning.

He was 90. His namaz-e-janaza will be held at Thakurgaon Government College ground at 11:00am on Saturday.

He was the convener of Muktijuddho Sangram Committee of Thakurgaon area during the liberation war in 1971. He also was an activist of language movement during 1952.

Thakurgaon-1 lawmaker Rames Chandra Sen, Thakurgaon-2 lawmaker Dabirul Islam, district parishad administrator Sadeq Quaraishi, who is also district Awami League general secretary and many others expressed their sorrows for the loss and condoled the bereaved family.
