Potato-laden pick-up torched in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI: Blockaders set fire to a potato-laden pick-up van in front of Shah Makhdum airport in the city on Monday noon.

Pick-up driver Nazmul said a group of blockaders with sticks intercepted the vehicle in front of the airport at 12:30pm and set ablaze it.

When locals rushed to the spot, they fled the scene blasting cocktails, he added.

Later, truckers with the help of locals brought the fire under control, said a spot account.

Shah Makhdum thana officer-in-charge Sayedur Rahman told banglanews that drives are underway in adjacent areas of the airport to nab the culprits.

On the other hand, Chhatra Dal men hurled brick ships at police in front of Rajshahi College and Hetem Khan area of the city from a protest rally there.
