‘Govt to bring Tarique back’

DHAKA: Law Minister Advocate Anisul Haque on Thursday categorically said the government is taking steps to bring back fugitive BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman.

The lawmaker made the disclosure while addressing ‘Meet the Reporters’ at the Dhaka Reporters Unity.

Anisul Haque said, “Several arrest warrants were issued against Tarique on charges of August 21 grenade attack, Zia orphanage charity graft cases, several corruption cases and defamation cases for making derogatory remarks against Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.”

Besides, the High Court banned broadcast, publication and dissemination of speeches and statements of Tarique Rahman.

So, the government is now taking necessary initiatives to take legal actions bringing him back, he added.
