CHITTAGONG: BNP-led 20-party alliance on Monday called a 36-hour shutdown from Tuesday morning in the districts of Chittagong division.
Metropolitan BNP president and also convener of 20-party alliance Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury declared the hartal in the division.
A press release from metropolitan BNP confirmed the matter to media.
The press release said that a 36-hour hartal will be enforced in the division from 6:00am Tuesday protesting the confinement of BNP chief Khaleda Zia in her political office, arresting the leaders and activists of 20-party alliance and filing ‘fake’ cases against them.
According to the release Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury also asked the people of Chittagong division to observe the shutdown in restoring democracy in the country.
He also said that the democratic movement of 20-party alliance can not be foiled by arresting the alliance people.
He also demanded their immediate release.
