DHAKA: The government has decided to appoint M Shahidul Islam, currently serving as Bangladesh Ambassador in Saudi Arabia, as the next High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Malaysia.

M Shahidul Islam, a career diplomat, is a member of BCS (FA) Cadre 1984 batch.

Before his current ambassadorial appointment in KSA, he served as Bangladesh High Commissioner to South Africa.

In his distinguished diplomatic career, M Shahidul Islam also served in Bangladesh Missions in Brussels, Colombo, Abu Dhabi, Rome and Los Angeles in different capacities.

M Shahidul Islam obtained his Masters in Communication and Journalism from Dhaka University and also completed his second Masters in International Politics from the Universite Libre De Bruxelles, Belgium.
