60 burn victims at DMCH, 5 critical

DHAKA: Sixty victims of petrol bomb attacks during ongoing sabotages across the country are wailing in pain at burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Of them, seven burn victims have been kept at its Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Five of them are in critical condition, said DMCH Burn Unit director Abul Kalam in a regular press briefing on Saturday.

He said a total of 135 burn victims were admitted to DMCH. Nine of them succumbed to their injuries, 60 are undergoing treatment and rest others returned homes.

Health secretary Syed Manjurul Islam, DMCH director Drigadiar General Mostafijur Rahman and Swadhinata Chikitsak Parishad (Swachip) leader Dr Iqbal Arslan were present at the press briefing.
