DHAKA: A man was killed and three others were injured when a fire broke out at Swadesh Tower in Purana Paltan area of the city early Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Anwar Hossain, 40, a peon of Lefd Corporation, while identities of the injured could not be known.

Fire Service and Civil Defense Headquarters’ Inspector M Zhir told banglanews that the fire originated around 5:20am at the third floor of Sawdesh Tower and soon engulfed the entire floor, leaving four people injured.

On information, six fire fighting units rushed to the spot and doused the flame.

The injured were taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where one of them succumbed to his injuries, added the Inspector.

DMCH police outpost In-Charge Mozzamel Haque confirmed the death to banglanews.
