JESSORE: An ill-fated police official was killed in a road accident on Jessore-Khulna highway in Taltala area under Abhaynagar upazila of the district on Saturday noon.

The victim was identified as Mozammel Haque, 40, son of Nakin Uddin and an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Azgara police outpost of Khulna.

Police sources said that a rashly driven truck knocked down the motorcycle carrying Mozammel Haque in the area at 12:00 noon, leaving him critically injured.

However, locals stormed him to Abhaynagar Upazila Health Complex where on-duty doctor declared him dead.

The mishap took place while he was returning from Jessore Judge Court to his workplace, police sources said.

Abhaynagar Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nasir Uddin confirmed the matter to banglanews.
