CHITTAGONG: At least 27 shanties were gutted in a devastating fire that broke out at a slum in Anu Majhir ghat area of the port city Monday.
 
The fire originated from kitchen stove of a shanty of the slum around 11:00am and soon engulfed adjacent shanties, says Nandan Kanan Station officer Ali Akber.

Fire service and civil defense Agrabad control room operator Bishu Das told banglanews that on information, two units rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control after one hour’s effort.

In the meantime, 27 shanties burnt to ashes cause by the fire.
