BAGERHAT: A district court on Monday sentenced a man to death for killing his father at their house in Morelganj upazila.

The condemned convict is-- M Badsha Gazi, 45.

In absence of the accused, District and session judge M Mizanur Rahman Khan passed the verdict around 11am.

According to case statement, sick Motahar Ali asked his son Badsha to bring medicine on February 9 morning in 2010. As the son ignored it, the duo locked into quarrel over the matter around 2pm. At one stage, son hacked his father in head, leaving him critically injured. Later, father died on way to hospital.

Later, younger son Abdul Haque Gazi filed a murder case aganst elder brother Badsha that night. Badsha remained fugitive from the incident.
