DHAKA: A female cleaner sustained splinter injuries when a cocktail went off in Azimpur Battola area of the city early Friday.

The victim was identified as Zahura Begum, who resides at sweeper colony in Hazaribag area.

Co-workers told banglanews that Zahura along with others was cleaning the road in the area at 5:30am. At one stage, a cocktail, hidden inside a garbage basket, went off, leaving her injured.

Later, co-workers rushed Zahura rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) with cocktail-splinter injuries on her hands and legs.

DMCH police outpost assistant sub-inspector Sentu Das confirmed the matter to banglanews.
