DHAKA: The cabinet Monday adopted a motion of condolences for the victims of Nimtoli house fire that took a heavy toll of 120 lives.

“The cabinet expresses deep shock at the huge loss of lives in Nimtoli tragedy and conveys sympathies to the bereaved family members,” says the motion, endorsed by the council of ministers in its meeting held at the Cabinet Division of the Secretariat.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina chaired the meeting that also prayed for salvation of the departed souls of the fire victims, PM’s press secretary Abul Kalam Azad told reporters after the meeting.

At least 120 people burnt alive in the blaze in the densely populated old-Dhaka locality on Thursday night.

Besides, the cabinet approved in principle the draft of Bangladesh Tourism Reserved Area and Special Tourism Law 2010, aimed at a planned development of the sector that holds huge untapped potential for the country.
