DHAKA: The campaign by the candidates of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) will start from the wee hours of Tuesday till the midnight of April 26.

Election Commission (EC) Public Relations director SM Asaduzzaman informed the matter to journalists on Monday.

He further said as per election code of conduct, a candidate is allowed to start campaign before 21 days as well as to stop it before 32 hours of elections.

DNCC election returning officer M Shah Alam told the media that the EC directed them not to spare any candidate if they violate the code of conduct.

He also said the officers-in-charge (OC) of police stations were also given directives to arrest the responsible person who will not follow the election manuals.

According to the schedule, the elections of DNCC, DSCC and Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) will be held on April 28.

April 9 is the last date to withdraw candidacy.

Moreover, the EC will assign symbols to the candidates on April 10.
