Obama greets Bangalees on Pahela Boishakh

DHAKA: US President Barack Obama greeted to all Bengali-speaking people around the world on the occasion of Pahela Boishakh celebration.

John Kerry, US Secretary of State, issued a press statement in this regard on Friday (April 10).

In the statement, John Kerry wrote, “On behalf of President Obama and the American people, I am delighted to send our warmest greetings to all Bengali-speaking people around the world as you celebrate Pahela Boishakh.”

“The United States joins you in celebrating the history and vibrant culture of the Bengali people. Your rich cultural heritage in song, film, poetry, art, and literature has enriched humanity,” it also reads.

“As you gather with family and friends to celebrate the New Year, know that the United States stands with you as a partner and friend,” the release added.

Wishing ‘Shubho Nobo Borsho!’, the US also hoped that the New Year will bring peace and prosperity for Bengali-speaking people.
