COXSBAZAR: Sea robbers abducted some 28 fishermen along with their fishing trawler from Sonadia Channel in the Bay of Bengal in Moheshkhali on Thursday morning.
Badsha, who was also with the ill-fated fishermen and managed to swim to the shore jumping out of the robbers’ boat, said that 30 fishermen were fishing with FV Joynal trawler there.
The robbers attacked on them at around 5:00am and threw the sailor in the Bay. Later they kept all fishermen into the space where ice was reserved to preserve fishes.
Badsha somehow jumped out of the boat and swam to the shore. The sailor also did so, he added.
On information from Badsha, Cox’s Bazar Boat Owners’ Association president Mojibur Rahman said he informed the matter to police.
Additional Police Super Tofayel Ahmed said Coast Guard and police started drive to rescue the fishermen.
