Dhaka: The Govt will set free 1074 prisoners from country’s jails Thursday under an amnesty on the occasion of holy Ramadan and Eid-ul-fitr, official sources said.

According to the sources, the convicts who were sentenced to life imprisonment and served a certain period of the sentences will be released under the clemency.

They will be realesed from 66 jails across the country.

“A proposal was sent to the prime minister’s office and prime minister Sheikh Hasina approved the proposal for the release of the prisoners on humanitarian grounds.” a prison official said.
