30,000 not to perform hajj

DHAKA: Around 30,000 pilgrims, who paid Moallem (guide) fee, will not be able to go to Saudi Arabia to perform hajj this year.

Religion affairs secretary Chowdhury M Babul Hasan disclosed the matter to journalists in presence of Minister Principal Matiur Rahman.

The number includes 10,000 registered pilgrims, he added.

The pilgrims are going to miss the chance this year due to complexities about depositing money in banks without registering their names, he added.

He also said 107,058 pilgrims will be able to go to perform hajj this year.
