RANGPUR: Over a thousand houses were damaged and 20 people injured as Nor'wester lashed three upazilas of the district on Tuesday night.

Borodorgah Highway Thana In-Charge Nazmul Hossain confirmed the matter adding the injured were rushed to Mithapukur Health Complex and Rangpur Medical College.

Atikul Islam, officer of Rangpur Meteorological office, told banglanews, “A storm with 70-80km wind hit Rangpur, Mithapukur and Pirganj upazilas in the night.”

Thousands of houses were damaged and trees were uprooted, that halted vehicular movement till 7:00am on Dhaka-Rangpur highway.

There are no power connections in the upazilas as some electric pillars were also uprooted by the storm.
