BENAPOLE, JESSORE: Two people, including a former member of Union Parishad, were killed and four others injured in a clash between two rival groups in a dispute over cutting tree in Benapole of the district.
After the clash, starting from 9:30am Friday, deceased’s family members set afire to three houses of suspected killers.
The deceased were identified as Abdullah, 52, Budu, 55, of Raghunathpur village of Benapole.
Following the clash, tension is prevailing in the area. The bodies were sent to Jessore Medical College Hospital morgue, said Apurba Hasan, officer-in-charge of Beanpole Port Thana.
He said on information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Police have been deployed in the area to avert further untoward situation.
No complaint was filed yet over the murder, the OC added.
