CHITTAGONG: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel on Sunday destroyed 5 lakh pieces of yaba tablets in the port city following the order of Chittagong Court.

The elite force destroyed the drugs in its office in Patenga area in the afternoon in presence of Chittgaong Metropolitan Magistrate Faridul Alam.

RAB Chittagong Zone assistant director (media) Sohel Mahmud confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Earlier on May 13, the force detained seven fishermen along with huge yaba tablets from a fishing trawler in outer anchorage of the port.

A case was filed in this connection and investigation officer of the case ASP Mimtanur Rahman plead for destroying the drugs.
