Slain man found floating in frontier river Ichhamoti

BENAPOLE: A slain man was found floating in the frontier river Ichhamoti in the upazila`s Putkhali area on Wednesday morning.     

Putkhali BDR camp-in-charge Emdad Hossain said the body was floating on the waters of the Indian part of the river. His identity could not be known immediately.

Locals said the victim was a Bangladeshi cow trader. Members of the Border Security Force (BSF) of India held and beat him to death while returning home from India with cows bought over there, they added.

Later, his body was thrown into the river, the sources said.  

Sub-inspector of Benapole land-port thana Azmal Huda said, “We heard the news. But we could not do anything as the body was found on the Indian part."
