Muhit on 5-day remand in Rajon killing case

SYLHET: A Sylhet court on Monday placed Muhit Alam, the prime accused of Rajon killing case, on a five-day remand for police interrogation.

Judge of Judicial Magistrate Court-2 Farhana Yeasmin passed the order in response to a seven-day remand plea of police.

Investigating Officer of the case and also Jalalabad Thana OC (investigation) Alamgir Hossian confirmed the matter to banglanews.

On July 8, Samiul Islam Rajon, 13, was beaten to death on accusations of stealing a rickshaw van at Kumargaon of Sylhet sadar upazila.

Rajon was the son of Sheikh Azizur Rahman, a microbus driver in profession of Kandigaon union under sadar upazila of the district.

A 28-minute video clip on the brutal torture to the boy to death has gone viral on the internet, creating a firestorm on the social media.

Earlier on July 8, locals caught one Muhit Alam (22) when he was taking the body in a microbus (Dhaka Metro-Cha-54-0516) to dump outside. Then they handed over him to the police.
