CHITTAGONG: Detective Branch (DB) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) arrested senior Nayeb-e-Ameer of Hefajat-e-Islam Mufti Ijharul Islam from Lalkhan Bazar Jamiatul Uloom Al-Islamia Madrasa Friday afternoon.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of CMP SM Tanveer Arafat confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He also said police are checking the cases filed against him earlier.

There are allegations of connections of Mufti Ijhar and his son Harun Ijhar with several international extremist organizations.
