DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is set to hold a meeting with India Prime Minister Narendra Modi after attending funeral of Suvra Mukherjee, wife of India president Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday.

The meeting will be held at official residence of Narendra Modi at 5, Race Course Road in New Delhi.

Prime Minister’s press secretary Ehsanul Karim confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Earlier in the morning, the premier reached New Delhi to attend the funeral of Suvra Mukherjee, wife of India President Pranab Mukherjee.

A fight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, carrying the premier and her entourage, landed at Indira Gandhi International Airport at New Delhi around 7:15am.

Indian external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj welcomed her at the airport. Senior officials of Bangladesh High Commission to India, including high commissioner Syed Muazzem Ali were also present during the time.

The premier visited Rashtrapati Bhavan, the official home of the President of India, at New Delhi from the airport and expressed her sympathy to Pranab Mukherjee.

Earlier, a fight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, carrying the premier and her entourage, left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for New Delhi at 6am. Some of cabinet members saw off her at the airport.

Her sister Sheikh Rehana, PM’s daughter Saima Wazed and Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali are accompanying her.

The premier will return Dhaka after the funeral around 6pm, said her press secretary Ihsanul Karim on Tuesday.

President Abdul Hamid and PM Hasina mourned the death of Indian first lady.

Suvra Mukherjee passed away on Tuesday morning at the age of 75.
