DHAKA: Commerce minister Tofail Ahmed said that people, involved in readymade garment (RMG) sector, are enjoying a safe and labor-friendly environment.
The minister made this assertion at a high-level meeting, jointly organized by ‘The Federal ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development’ and ‘german Social Accident Insurance’ in Berlin on Monday.
A press release sent by commerce ministry public relation officer Mohammad Abdul Latif Baksi told the media on Tuesday.
According to the release, the minister said that Bangladesh government has successfully tacked the Rana Plaza accident.
No major accident took places in the country as the government has taken several initiatives after the Rana Plaza tragedy, he added.
The minister further said that his government is closely working with labor organizations, development partners, ILO, ACORD and Alliance to ensure safety and create working-friendly environment for the workers.
The release further said that participants of the meeting appreciated Bangladesh government’s initiatives in this regard.
