Atul Khare hails Bangladesh troops in UN missions

DHAKA: United Nations under secretary general Atul Khare commented that Bangladeshi troops are working in the UN peacekeeping missions with reputation.

He made this comment at a press conference at UNDP Bangladesh office on Tuesday evening.

The visiting envoy said that Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has become a ‘brand-name’ for her role in sending troops to the peacekeeping missions.

According to Khare, as many as 9,398 Bangladesh troops are involved in UN mission activities. They are working in remote places in different countries to restore peace and stability.

He also mentioned that the number of Bangladeshi troops is higher than any other UN member states.

Khare also lauded the contribution of female members of Bangladesh police in the missions.

Also United Nations department of field support chief Khare is visiting Bangladesh for 3 days from September 13.
