PM leaves for NY on Sep 23

DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to leave Dhaka for New York on September 23 to attend the 70th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

The premier will lead a 60-member team comprising finance, foreign, expatriate welfare and overseas employment ministers and prime minister’s advisors for political, economic, international affairs.

Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali confirmed the matter on Thursday at his ministry in city.

PM Hasina will address the UNGA where she is likely to place Bangladesh’s pledges and determination in implementing sustainable development goals (SDG) in line with the success in achieving millennium development goals (MDG).

Alongside attending different sessions of general assembly, Sheikh Hasina will take part several multi-lateral and bi-lateral talks, the minister added.

She will stay there till October 1.

The PM is expected to hold bi-lateral meeting with heads of government of several countries including India, China and the United States.

State minister for foreign affairs Shahriar Alam and foreign secretary Shahidul Haque were also present at press briefing.
