Cattle-laden truck hijacked in city, 4 hurt

DHAKA: Four cattle traders were injured when a gang of muggers hijacked a cattle-laden truck at gunpoint in capital’s Manik Mia Avenue early Saturday.
 
The injured --Masum, 24, Sujon, 26, Thandu Mia, 45 and Tanjimul, 28, -- are undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Injured traders at DMCH told banglanews that they were on way to Aftab Nagar cattle market in city from Jhinaidah with 16 cows.

Muggers with a pick-up van intercepted their truck at Manik Mia Avenue at dawn and captured the truck at gunpoint. During the time, they dragged the businessmen into the pick-up van and later, left them in Ashulia, they added.

The injured arrived at Aftabnagar cattle market with the help of locals. Hat authorities sent them to DMCH for treatment.

DMCH police outpost in-charge Mozammel Haque confirmed the matter of taking treatment of the four.

Victims claimed that driver might involve in hijacking. 

Sher-e-bangla nagar Thana officer-in-charge (OC) DG Biswas told banglanews that they have received such complaint.

 As per the allegation, the truck driver was arrested from city’s Badda area. He is now being interrogated, he added.
