DHAKA: Ashuganj Power Station Company Limited (APSCL) is set to set up a gas-based 400MW Combined Cycle Power Plant to ensure ceaseless flow of electricity in the country and meet growing demands.
The project was approved in the meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on Tuesday.
APSCL sources said estimated expenditure to set up the power plant was Tk 2,931.36-crore.
Of the cost, Tk 2,358.28-crore would come from project aid, Tk 420.68-crore will come from government exchequer while respective office will finance Tk 152.39-crore.
The project will be implemented from 2015 to 2020.
Confirming the matter, acting managing director of APSCL Sajjadur Rahman told banglanews that they took the project to meet power shortage and to ensure ceaseless flow of electricity in the country.
The project will also play a vital role in achieving country’s economic growth, he added.
