DHAKA: Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) mayor Sayeed Khokon said their drive to remove animal wastes will continue until the city becomes clean during Eid ul-Azha.
The mayor came up with this assertion while inaugurating the garbage management work in Dholaikhal area of the city around 2:45pm Friday.
“Qurbani animal wastes will be removed from the capital in a day. But, difficult thing is to clean the animal haats. However, it would also be clean soon”, he added.
Sayed Khokon also remarked that the dwellers can complain through the city corporations’ website if there is any waste left in front of their house. The city corporations will then take necessary step to remove waste.
While asked why city dwellers did not use the 324 fixed spots for quarbani, he said it was not compulsory as dwellers can slaughter sacrificial animals on their house premises.
“Our initiative was to create awareness among the people to slaughter animal in certain places to keep the city clean”, he added.
