DHAKA: Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Annisul Huq remarked that the corporation has gifted a clean Dhaka to the city dwellers by removing garbage of sacrificial animals within 27 hours.
The mayor came up with this assertion at a press conference in DNCC office around 11:00am Sunday.
While talking about the challenges regarding the cleaning of the cattle market, the mayor said the biggest haat was set up in Aminbazaar so there was traffic congestion there for four hours on Eid day.
According to hi, there were some problems in hide markets in Uttara and in Mirpur. There was bad smell till the removal of the waste. Otherwise, the condition of rest of the areas was good.
Garbage Management Department chief captain Bipon Kumar Saha said, “The mayor told the media that the corporation needs 40 hours, but he gave us 30 hours”.
“However, we have completed our task within 27 hours,” he added.
The corporation staff also worked following the complaints by the city dwellers in removing the waste from their respective areas.
DNCC chief executive officer BM Enamul Haque, among others, was also present during the press brief.
