GAZIPUR: At least 40 houses were gutted in a colony in Bhogra Bi-pass area under Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) in Gazipur district on Monday afternoon.

On information, four units from Joydebpur and Tongi fire services rushed to the place and doused the fire after one hour.

Gazipur Fire Service inspector Abul Kalam said that the fire incident took place around 1:00pm resulting at least 40 houses gutted and a loss of Tk 15-lakh.

The fire may spread from a stove, he said adding that but the colony owner claimed that someone may set fire to the house.
