Aussie tour depends on their govt

DHAKA: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) director general (DG) Benazir Ahmed on Monday said that the visit of Australia cricket team to Bangladesh will depend on its government.

‘The visiting delegation has learnt about our security plan and now their government will make the decision,’ he added.

The elite force chief made this comment at a press briefing after his meeting with after a meeting with the Cricket Australia (CA) delegation, led by its security manager Sean Carroll.

‘We have told them that Bangladesh government will ensure highest level of security to the Australia cricket team during their tour in Bangladesh,’ the DG said.

Mentioning Bangladesh’s successful arrangement of 75 international cricket series in the country, Benazir further said that no untoward situation was created during the tournaments and no unexpected incident will happen in the upcoming series.

Earlier in the afternoon, the Australia delegation had a meeting with RAB high-ups at its headquarters in city’s Uttara area over the security measures during the upcoming visit of Australia cricket team in Bangladesh.
