DHAKA: An Italian national was shot dead by unknown assailants in city’s Gulshan diplomatic area on Monday evening.

The incident took place on Road no 90 in Gulshan-2.

The victim was identified as Tavella Cesare (50), employee of an international organization called AISD.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Gulshan Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Sirajul Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He said a foreigner was shot by unknown assailants and then locals rushed him to city’s United Hospital where on-duty doctor declared him dead.

‘We are investigating the matter,’ the OC added.

Moreover, Gulshan Thana sub-inspector (SI) Mizanur Rahman said the victim was shot at his left arm and belly.
