Gazipur road mishaps kill 4

GAZIPUR: At least four people were killed and five others injured in three separate road accidents at Kaliakoir and Sadar upazilas of the district early Tuesday.

Of the deceased one was identified as Rajendra Barman, 45, hailed from Lutiarchala village under Sadar upazila.

Gorai Highway Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Humayun Kabir told banglanews that a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a covered van on Dhaka-Tangail highway at Hijoltoli area under Kaliakoir Upazila early Tuesday killed two and five others injured.

The injured were taken to Kaliakoir Health Complex, he added.

Meanwhile, a bus ran over passers-by, Rajendra Barman, on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway at Bhabanipur area under Sadar upazila, leaving him dead on the spot.

Police seized the bus though the driver managed to flee the spot.

Besides, a bus helper was killed as the bus turned turtle on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway at Bhabanipur area of the upazila around 5:00am.

Mauna highway thana OC Helalul Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Police sent the body to Shahid Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College and Hospital for autopsy, he added.
