DHAKA: A man chopped dead his wife and strangled his stepson to death in Keraniganj upazila of Dhaka early Wednesday.
 
The deceased were identified as Shahera Begum, 35, and her 8-year-old son Foysal. Daughter Jannat also was injured in the incident.

Jannat’s Aunt Jahanara said Ishak Mia was again married to another woman 15 days ago. Following quarrel over the matter, Ishak attacked his wife and stepson-daughter, leaving mother-son dead on the spot and daughter injured.

Injured Jannat was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Confirming the matter, Keraniganj Model Thana assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Kibria said the bodies were sent to Mitford Hospital for autopsy.

Locals caught Ishak and handed over to police. He is now in police custody, the ASI added.
