GAZIPUR: Forest officials seized 800 munia and parrot of different species from Riaznagar area of Tongi in the district early Wednesday.

During the drive, they detained two people—Nazrul,38, son of Mujibur Rahman and Lal Mia, 40 of Afaz Uddin Nalitabari upazila of Sherpur.

Forest department officer Dr Tapan Kumar Dey told banglanews that acting on tip-off 420 munia and 380 parrots were recovered from the area.

Those have been caught from north Bengal from smuggled to overseas countries, he added.

Dr Tapan further said Recovered birds would be released at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park in Gazipur.
