7 killed in road mishaps in 3 dists

DHAKA: At least seven people were killed in three separate road accidents in Rajshahi, Chittagong and Munshiganj districts on Wednesday.

Our Munshiganj correspondent said that three passengers were killed and scores injured as a bus plunged into a road-side ditch in Sirajdikhan upazila of the district on Wednesday afternoon.

The accident took place in Chaltipara area on Dhaka-Mawa highway around 5:00pm.

Sirajdikhan Thana duty officer and also assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Shamim confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Rajshahi correspondent said that two motorcyclists died as an ambulance hit the motorbike in Maharrampur area in Rajshahi metropolitan city around 12:45pm.

The deceased were identified as Mamun Hossain (44) of Guripara and Mantu Sheikh (40) of Shyampur area.

Confirming the matter to banglanews Rajpara Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Mahmudur Rahman said that the duo died on the spot.

Our Chittagong Correspondent said that a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a pick-up van left two dead in Satkania on Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway.

The deceased were identified as Anwar Hossain (28), son of Sanaullah and Monowar Hossain (23), son of Nurul Islam of Mirsarai upazila.

Dohazari Thana highway police officer-in-charge (OC) AKM Kawsar Ahmed confirmed the matter to banglanews.
