Low over Bay, singal-3 at seaports

DHAKA: Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisting local cautionary signal number Three.

According to Bangladesh Meteorological Department, the low over north of Bay of Bengal and its adjoining area concentrated into a well-marked low over the same area.

Under its influence, deep convection is taking place over the north of the sea.

Squally weather may affect North Bay, adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh and the maritime ports, it added.

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.

Under the influence of the low pressure from heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at places over Barisal and Chittagong divisions during next 24 hours commencing 9:00am Thursday.

Due to very heavy rainfall landslide may occur at places over the hilly regions of Chittagong division.

In association with rain or thunder showers temporary south or south-easterly squalls speed 60-80 kph is likely to occur over the regions of Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong and  Cox’s Bazar wherein riverports  shall host riverine warning signal number Two.

Rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary south or south-easterly gusty or squally wind speed 45-60 kph is likely to occur elsewhere over the country wherein riverports shall hoist cautionary signal number One.
