GAIBANDHA: At least two people were killed and three injured as they were hit by a recklessly driven bus on Dhaka-Rangpur highway in Gabindaganj upazila of Gaibandha district on Thursday afternoon.

The deceased have been identified as Shahjahan Mia (38) and Alefa Begum (35) of Gobindaganj upazila.

The injured included Alefa’s mother Firoza Begum (55) and her twin sons Jobayer and Talha. They are admitted at Rangpur Medical College and Hospital.

Gabindaganj Highway Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Enamul Haque Pradhan told banglanews that the bus ran over the duo while they were waiting by the highway for a bus around 3:00pm, leaving them dead on the spot.

Palashbari Thana OC Mojibur Rahman said that they have seized the bus though the driver had managed to flee the scene.
